Monthly Mixtape: In Like a Crocus, Out Like a Daffodil

At least I think that’s how the saying goes.

Monthly Mixtape: In Like a Crocus, Out Like a Daffodil

HOW IS IT MARCH?

I know I say this every month, but  – HOW. IS. IT. MARCH.

Not that I’m wishing for January again. Hayell naw. I’ve been following the weather forecast on an extra psychotic level lately, and it APPEARS, and I don’t want to sound crazy, that spring miiiiiight just be on its way. In like 20 days. According to life and calendars and the air quality and mules.

Spring! SPRING.

I mean, everything is still super dead and gross and yucky in KC, but it’s this time of year that I begin to obsessively inspect every blade of grass to see if it’s turning green. Even slightly! JUST A WIDDLE BIT GWEEN?

Sorry I said it like that. You just threw your eyeballs in the trashcan.

This mixtape!

(LISTEN. Before we go any further, I just want to please PLEASSEEEEEEPLEASEPLEASE ask that if you’re not a premium listener (meaning: you listen for free, with ads), give this mix a go on your laptop. BECAUSE, freaking Spotijerk will shuffle the playlist and insert other songs THAT AREN’T MINE into the mix all willy nilly. And I’m losing sleep over it. Because guys. There’s an art to making these mixtapes. Haven’t you SEEN HIGH FIDELITY? John Cusack knows. Rant over.)

So this playlist is a caaaarefully-selected mix of tunes that will ease us into spring. Nothing too chipper. Nothing too, too upbeat. These are songs you listen to while you’re mapping out your garden. Songs in the background while you begin the laundry list of spring cleaning tasks ahead of you. Songs you’ll play in the car on your spring break road trip! There are some songs on here you’ve definitely forgotten about. Older rock songs that might ring some bells of nostalgia for you. Newer gems that you’ll fall in love with, because of whispery vocals or intertwining jangly guitar solos.

The playlist highlights for ME (at least this hour) are – Big Thief’s Mythological Beauty, The War on Drugs’ Pain, and the UNEXPECTED but brilliant power couple Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile with Over Everything. I could listen to that song for 34 years straight. It is droney, harmonic, rock perfection.

Alrightalrightalrightalright – done with mah rambles.

I GIVE YOU . . .the “In Like a Crocus, Out Like a Daffodil” Mix.

Enjoy!

This time last year!

This time TWO YEARS AGO WUT.

Might be my favorite playlist yet. REM? Been on a maj REM kick lately. Saw Courtney and Kurt awhile back (love them). And I did a little internal shout of glee at seeing The Staunton Lick on there. Flashback to dance parties with my old roomie in 2004.

I have been trying to figure out what you add in this dish because I tried it in a restaurant so it was delicious. One must visit edubirdie.org source for more help in essays. I am glad that here you gave full detail how we can prepare this dish at home.
