Patio Livin’. Plus a Discount!

Patio part-aaaay!

And by party I mean me sitting on my patio alone with a glass (bottle?) of rosé.

Are you a patio person? (Not to be confused with pod person.)

Like, do you host, hang outside, grill, read, play corn hole (<–I’ll never not say corn hole), have picnics, stick your feet in the kiddie pool, relax in a hammock, listen to music, have OUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHTS? Because we need to talk about this.

We’ve always been patio people, but honestly, it’s taken us  y   e   a   r   s   to get our patio right. We still have so much we could do, but we’re getting closer! I need my ambience, man.

So, this is what’s crazy. I had seriously been complaining about our patio to Aaron one morning, and five seconds later, I get an email from the sweet peeps at Starfire Direct. Um, a patio company! They were like, “Do you want to get your patio looking sa-weet?” I responded back, “Help meee, I’m poooor.” (Name that movie.)

They sent me three items from their site, and I’m happy to say, our patio is now on the highway to the pimp zone.

Let’s take a looksie.

First of all – this fire pit house cage thingy is sooo so nice. We’ve been grilling on it every other day, but it can also be used to just lounge around next to, since you can see the fire from all angles. It’s technically called the Uniflame Black Wood Burning Outdoor Firehouse. Don’t you love that solid black, classic look? Me, too. I also love that it’s not insanely heavy, so even total wimps like me can scoot it around if needed.

See that? Perfect little grill! It also has a little door that you can latch closed, so mini toddler arms won’t get curious and end up in the ER. So far, at least.

It IS lower than a traditional grill, so just pull up a stool, and you’re set. I mean sit. I mean set.

We had to move it away from our banana leaf plant during the grilling, because it was roasting the leaves. WHOOPS. Sorry, banana plant.

I still love you, fire grill baby.

Item #2: a gooooorgeous white patio umbrella! I don’t know why it’s taken my noggin’ this long to get a WHITE umbrella. White’s my fave color. What is wrong with me?

Wait – is white the absence of all color, or the combination of all color? I can’t remember which one it is. I feel like it’s the combo, which seems weird, as you would think black would be the combination of all the colors, since it’s black. I feel like there’s debate out on this one. You can file this one under: WE DON’T CARE, BEV.

Anyway, it’s called the Galtech International 221 7.5’ Manual Lift Dark Wood Umbrella with White Suncrylic Fabric. And it’s fabulous! The diffused light that the white fabric casts is stunning. So calming. The umbrella doesn’t tilt, but I personally loathe tilty umbrellas. They usually end up swirling around in the wind and getting obnoxiously wonky. I love that this one stays put!

However, if tilty ‘brellas be yo thang, they definitely have those, too. Ya freak.

Just look at that glow. Are you not feeling the zen right now?

Third item: portable stainless tiki torches!

You GUYS. These are so fun. They have a point at the bottom so you can just stick them in the ground whenever and wherever and whyever (?) you want. AND, they’re adjustable in height, so if you’re kid free, bring those suckers down low and getcha romance on. (<–Ew.)

These ^^^ aren’t even as low as they can go. They can get down to about half that size. We had them much higher when we hosted movie night. You can pretty much change it up depending on your mood!

Not saying you’re moody.

Its technical name is the Anywhere Fireplace Torch Outdoor Lawn Cylinder. And I’m OBSESSED.

Also, be sure to fill them up with citronella oil, so you don’t disappear into the abyss of mosquito death mouths.

This kind of summer night is my faaaavorite. Vintage reggae on the portable speaker, a crisp rosé, a bowl of popcorn, and the KIDS IN BED – OOOOOOOO NO SHE DI’NT.

She did.

You know you’re nodding.

I had to beg Aaron to let me put this photo in this post. I was like, “It’s so summery, AARON.”

He was like, “YOUR FACE is so summery.”

He didn’t say that.

It could actually be a compliment.

Never mind.

Oh! Another side note about the torches. To extinguish the fire, you just pop the dangling cap up and boom, out. I like it when things are easy.

I highly recommend taking a peek at the Starfire Direct website! They’re definitely known as the go-to place for getting your outdoor area completely summer-fied. They have a TON of stuff on it. Fire pits, fire bowls, pergolas, patio furniture, etc. A zillion different styles, too. You can go super detailed and ornate, or keep it clean and simple. Which is totally my steez.

Check it out, if you’re in the summer patio-livin’ market!

Annnnnd I’m not even done. The awesome folks at Starfire Direct are offering 10% off your first order, when you use the code BEVCOOKS at checkout. (!!) Me thinks you need that white umbrella, right?

Right.

Would you just look at them? Ugh, can’t even get over it.

Will and Natalie are pretty cute, too.

*This post is definitely sponsored by Starfire Direct. But like always, allll these patio gushings and opinions are totally my own, dudes.*

Anyone who ordered immediately like I did, will find that the code isn’t working right now but if you live chat with someone, they will process the order. They said they have tech support on why the code isn’t working now, so hopefully it will come back soon. Thanks Bev! I can’t wait to get my torches!

Great article! Your yard looks fantastic! Thanks Bev! FYI, we looked into it and the coupon code “BEVCOOKS” should now be working out our site, http://www.StarfireDirect.com. If anyone continues to have trouble though, just give us a call. Thanks again!

Hi Bev, you’re patio rocks! If I lived closer, which Im sure I don’t cuz it’s hot as H E double hockey sticks (yep, just did that) where I live and no matter how awesome my patio looks, it’s way to hot to enjoy it, so as I walk by, I look out and say, oh that’s so pretty but it’s freaking too hot!

Enjoy your patio as I stay inside where it’s cool, unless of course you invite me over! Ha!

P.s. I live in Georgia, where it’s like a bazillion degrees, then add in the humidity, yeah, now you understand!

    • Brittany | Words Like Honeycomb June 17, 2016 at 12:20 pm #

Oh Debbie. I feel your pain…Georgia gal here as well and I get you. I am like..ohh…people go outside in the summer?

      Humidity + 103 degrees = death

Love your outdoor setup! Going to need to buy that umbrella but I’m starting from scratch and don’t even have a table set! Where did you get your table, chairs, bench?

    • Bev Weidner June 16, 2016 at 1:45 pm #

Sure sure! The table/chairs/bench are all from World Market. Good luck crafting your space!

When I saw the first picture of the fire pit my thought was “why does she have leaves coming out of the top of it?” Ha ha! I’m sure your banana leaf is grateful that it is no longer that close to it :).

We are TOTALLY patio people! And it took us YEARS to get it looking like it is today! We have been in our house for 12 years and when we moved in our kids were 4,2 and a newborn. It had a big concrete patio with a Pickett fence around it. Super cute and perfect for keeping the little in one spot and they would ride their toys around it. As they got older we wanted a nice swing set and playhouse type deal. So we tore down the little fence which surrounded the patio and built the swing set under the HUGE pecan tree we had. A couple years later we wanted an area to entertain without bugs eating us so we screened in that huge concrete patio. And the angels sang. BEST. DECISION. EVER! It’s like an outdoor living room. Then our kiddos started getting bigger (like teenagers! GAH!) and we wanted something else. And our pecan tree was dying (sad face). We never, ever thought we would be pool people. NEVER! But when the pecan tree had to be cut down we decided to entertain the thoughts of a pool. And guess what? We LOVE it! Our kids (now 15,13,11) have their friends over and we can hear conversations, check out budding romances, etc. we are having friends over today! The adults can hand out under the shade of the screened in porch, the kiddos swim and all are happy!
