Friday Flotsam

Faaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrruuuuuuuuudeeeeeeeeeee!

Little change in format today.

But first, I need to tell you about a dream I had this week. It was so vivid and so real and yes, it’s sort of boring but I’m telling you anyway. It was my Ralph Lauren dream!

Let me start by saying, I’m not like, governed by that brand. The only RL I have is a thrifted blanket for Will’s room. Deep green checkers, bonkers soft and stunning quality. That’s it. It’s all I really know of the brand besides the rugged cowboy owner (well, Ralph himself) and Rachel Green’s career with them and the boss that saw her interviewing with Gucci. The scandal!

Anyway, I had this dream the other night that I was in this cute little village. Sort of Eureka Springs-ish. Shops and cafes, right next to each other on a fragrant, spindly street. I happened upon a Ralph Lauren shop (like, do they even have shops or stores? I have no idea.) It was halfway inside, halfway outside. And there was this gooooorgeous green striped sweater on a hanger. (actually, shouldn’t sweaters be folded and not hung? Bad Ralph!) But it was a billion dollar sweater and I thought, “Oh I can thrift this. Or something like it.” And I woke up with this need to get on Pinterest and look up ’90s Ralph Lauren and what that exact vibe was. So much plaid and tweed and layers and warmth! I love it. And I’m telling you, that one single dream sort of catapulted this random inspiration, hot and fiery, to thrift a vintage Ralph Lauren look for the fall. Whether it be home or wardrobe. Doesn’t have to be the brand, just the vibe.

And then THAT got me wanting to rearrange every single shelf and area and corners in and of my house. I need a good autumn declutter sesh! (sorry I said sesh.) I took every single thing off the living room book shelf, wiped it all out, got rid of half of what was there and gave it a fresh, stylish edit. I read something recently about how Virgos love to be at home and just piddle. That is 100% me. (for my British readers, piddle just means to putz around. Not like, pee on the floor or anything. Never mind.)

ANYWAY. This has me wondering….

What’s inspiring you this week? And I mean specifically. What’s putting that oomph in your step lately?

The weather? A good dream? A new album? Something you ate that was outstanding? A book so delicious it made you cry? Filling up the calendar? Taking things off the calendar? A good hair day? Putting on a super soft sweatshirt for the first time? New bedsheets? Tell me what’s giving you giddy pants.

Let’s carry that juice into the weekend, shall we?

Speaking of, weekend plans?!

For us it’s a good mix of hustle bustle and leave me alone. We have a late soccer game tonight, (will follow all Chiefs game/fiancé Taylor content on my phone), a LOT of yard trimming and manicuring tomorrow morning, Jazz Fest tomorrow night, and a little political gathering in the park on Sunday for a city council candidate. I’m wanting to churn through more of Playworld (SO GOOD), along with watching the Residence (we’re two episodes in) and Only Murders Season 5! And maybe more decluttering. The kitchen is next! (don’t tell Aaron)

From this weeeeeek: we have one recipe and one September playlist. Air Fryer Salmon Tacos forever. Try them out! Here’s that video. And then a mixtape to transition you from summer to fall. It’s moody and perfect. Also I posted a reel about what books I read from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Would love to know if you’ve read any and what your faves (not favs) are!

Okay tell me – what’s inspiring you this week? Spill it!

This divine weather! I do a refresh every season in my home. I have tons of built in book shelves in two living areas so I go nuts clearing and cleaning and resetting. I LOVE going thrifting for different items to change things out each time! Books are still my heavy though-different colored spines too!

Autumn inspires me! It's my season. I am actually lighting an Autumn scented candle to inject a little hygge into my life. I got out my autumnal decorations as well. I'm also trying to lay in my netted hammock for at least 30 minutes a day reading.
