Friday Flotsam

Frrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiddddddaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaahhhhhh! (<–sorry)

Well, we’re a week into June and I need to know how you’re all coping. Does school feel like two years ago? Does summer still feel brand spankin’? Are you already over it?

We’re good! We’re well! We’re fine! We’ve eased in! (did all that stress you out?)

I’ve only been to the pool once. Ha! But we have one camp down, and one to go next week, and I can say with confidence that I believe a routine is established. Rooms have stayed moderately clean, bikes have been put to a satisfying use, tomato pie has been baked, swimming trunks and two-piece suits are draped on chairs and in between dryings, the sleepover count is already orbital and my garden is looking great. Summah!

I was at a friend’s house the other night for poolside, bat-watching drinks, and we were discussing summer movies. (of course) You guys, she’s never seen Rear Window.

Never!!!

Have . . . you seen Rear Window? For this family, it is the quintessential summer flick. Stylish, mysterious, classic, family friendly, gorgeous, funny, riveting! Like, you can HEAR the air. I know I say this all the time when I talk about this movie but, you can HEAAAR THE AIIIIIIR. It’s just my favorite. I mean it’s Grace and Jimmy for crying out loud.

Please tell me you’ve seen it.

Also tell me if this ever happens to you.

You get a text and your watch dings. You glance down to see a name and the first few words. But you read the name wrong, and you also read the first few words wrong. And you create a story of what that text actually says based on the way the first few words look. But reminder, you’ve read those words wrong, so the story you’ve created in your head to finish out the words you’ve incorrectly read is completely false. And you get mad because you think something has happened or plans have shifted or a kid did this or someone said that. But none of that happened because a) you read the name wrong AND you read the message wrong. You get all riled up before you have a chance to grab your phone and read the ACTUAL text, only to find out that yes, plans for the park at 2pm sound great.

HAHAHAHAHAH! And you got mad! And it wasn’t who you thought it was from! And it’s all good and fine and there’s zero drama! BAHAHAHAHAH!

I never do that, I was just wondering if you did.

Oh, you need the rest of the movie list. Okay, these are the die-hards. (some as a family, some definitely not)

Family: Rear Window (I’ve mentioned my love for this movie, right?), Raising Arizona, Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, Goonies.

Non Family: Dirty Dancing, Wet Hot American Summer.

I know I’m forgetting some. What are yours?! Let’s make a master list!

Weekend plans?

The temps look fantastic. Natalie and I are taking our dear friends to get Taco Bell today before they leave town for a whole month. HAHAH! We’re the best. Then we have mom/daughter hang tonight and nuttin’ for the rest of the weekend. We have some rain on Sunday but I’ll use that time to finish out my basement organizing (slash ignoring) and reading.

Oh! This will drive you insane: I have 15 pages left in Paradise Problem. FIFTEEN! I chose not to finish it before sitting down to write this post. Is that not the most obnoxious thing ever?! So that said, I need to skedaddle so I find out what happens and record a Book Tasting right after! (well, I’ll wash my hair first)

Also also, did you see this BEST EVER Tuna Salad? It’s insanely pure and completely delicious. You’ll love it.

Okay byeeeeeeeeee.

Splash, Money Pit, and Clue are all in my constant love list. I would also add Stranger than fiction as super good! If you watch above suggested " A walk on the moon" be prepared for massive tears. Of course Uncle Buck and My girl are great and ET, and all the Indiana Jones movies and the original Jurassic park. One last one Stand by me. ( i have a movie problem)

Happy Friday! I absolutely love your summer movie list—Rear Window is a total masterpiece! Your story about misreading texts is so relatable and hilarious. For me, winding down on a summer weekend means grabbing a cool drink and enjoying some quick entertainment online. When I’m taking a break from reading or movie marathons, I love using my https://foxslots-login.com/ to play a few thrilling games and test my luck. It’s the perfect way to relax! Hope you enjoy those last fifteen pages of your book!
