DIY Almond Butter

When was the last time you bought a nice jar of organic nut butter?

Oh wait, never because it costs A MILLION DOLLARS. Seriously, why are nut butters so expensive? (I’m looking at you too, tahini.)

Well today, I decided to change that. I decided to make a difference in this world. To take my life in a new and exciting direction. To go where no other home cook has gone before! (well, I’m sure a good few of you have.)

I MADE ALMOND BUTTER.

It was super duper easy too. And the taste….O.M.G. Like nothing else. Still warm from the processing, I spread a little on some apple slices and you guys, I did a little dance.

Make this with your kids after school!

Almond Butter:

The cup of almonds

Look at that processor go!

After about 6 minutes of processing the oils are released and voila, butter.

The treat. You won’t be able to resist.

* 1 cup almonds, toasted

* drizzle of local honey

* pinch of sea salt

It seems too easy doesn’t it? Toss your toasted almonds into a food processor, set it on the highest setting and let it go. The oils will release and magical butter appears. Add the drizzle of honey, the pinch of salt and pulse one more time to combine.

That’s all! Do this. Do this now.
