Frrrrrrrrrrring freak! Sorry, I mean – spring break!

I have the lit-e-ral best news ever on the planet to share. Just get ready. Sit down. Stand up. No wait, sit back down.

Natalie came to me earlier this week and said, “Mom, I’ve decided it’s time to watch Gilmore Girls. Will you watch with me?”

What happened next was something between an internal stroke meets a coma meets an exorcism meets a hot air balloon meets a heart parade meets a soul rager meets the happiest moment of my life. I said yes. She said yes!

You do know my life has officially unraveled at this point. All productivity: out the window. All spring goals: done for. It is now time to let her decide if she’s Team Dean or Team Jess or Team Logan. (Jess forever, but she doesn’t know this yet.)

We’re about 9 episodes into the first season. What’s actually crazy is that already, already we’re better. Not that we were bad or off or anything. But she’s 12 and I’m cringe. It’s the way it goes right now. But Lorelai and Rory and Emily are our best friends all of a sudden and it’s so delicious. I keep telling her Kirk will be a slow-burn favorite, but she’s annoyed with him right now. She’ll get there.

Oh, she’ll get there.

ALSO remember this!? Holy cow, my hair.

Also, I did start Love Story. Gah, stunner of a show. I’m only 4 episodes into it, but I’ll get back to it mid summer when we finish GG.

Wait! March Madness hits this week. I’ll never get anything done for the rest of my life.

Who are we rooting for this year? Who’s playing well? Is KU doing well? Is Duke doing well? Is Kentucky doing well?

Sorry. I’d google it, but you’re cuter.

Weekend plans?

It’s officially spring break here. We’re staying put but I love it. Sleepovers, garden bed and leaf cleanup, basketball watching, a bit of work and letting the kids run feral. But get this, it’s going to be 31 degrees on Monday, then 84 on Thursday. Like – what on earth. I have a small stack of firewood to get through before I move a pretty white iron bench over in its place. The breezy white curtains will go up. Outdoor pillows get a wash. Max Medina will annoy us for now. (oh, you feel me.)

From this week, I did post an end-of-winter picnic with St. Francis wine! Be sure and peep that. And of course this video of my ’90s pining. (don’t worry, I did not use the horrific Goo Goo Dolls song. You are safe with me.)

    I am actually so excited for you to be watching GG with Nat! I am old enough to be your mom but just watched it for the first time last Fall and just started rewatching it because there was nothing else to watch because I refuse to pay for more streaming services! Hopefully it doesn't leave Netflix before I get thru my second watch. And honestly I'm torn between Jess & Logan. Maybe I'll make up my mind this go round. Enjoy!

    I just finished watching it with my now 13 yr old and no exaggeration it changed our relationship. It was good before, but now there’s magic. She seeks my opinion and trusts my recommendations. Having something you both love and look forward to at that age is priceless. I’m so happy you both get to watch it together. I know the memories she and I made over the past year of watching it are ones we both will cherish the rest of our lives.

    If you like Heart the Lover, you must read Writers and Lovers. It fills in a lot of the story. Ughhh.... These are the types of books that just stay with you.

    I really enjoy how the ragdoll physics work in ragdoll drop. Watching the character react naturally to every obstacle makes each level feel unique.

    The best news is that you're watching Gilmore Girls with Natalie. I remember when my daughter and I started watching that show together. It really did feel like making new best friends, especially since we could talk about the characters and storylines afterward. I wonder who Natalie will pick for Rory's best match!

    This made me want to start Gilmore Girls all over again. And watching it with your 12-year-old sounds like such a fun little era to be in. #TeamJess forever, obviously. Also, 31 degrees to 84 in THREE days?! Spring really has no idea what it’s doing. My weekend plans involve food, some time outside, and admiring all the violets popping up everywhere right now.

    Oh Bev, this gave me all the feelings. My daughter and I started Gilmore Girls together when she was 12 too, and those nine-episode check-ins became the best part of our week, right down to arguing about Dean. I'm with you on Team Jess, by the way, and Kirk does grow on you eventually, so tell Nat to hang in there. Something else that scratched the same cozy-story itch for us between episodes was reading through reviews of free otome and romance visual novels at browser otome games no download, where the heroines get their own love triangles and slow burns and you can play in the browser without signing up for anything. Perfect for spring break downtime when the weather flip-flops from 31 to 84. Enjoy every single episode with her.

    I love that Natalie came to you about Gilmore Girls — those mother-daughter watch-alongs are magic, and Victoria is right that it changes the relationship in the best way.     The Gilmore Girls news is the best thing I've read all week. My daughter and I started it when she was 12 too, and the Jess versus Logan debates got heated in our house.     Made this last night and the squeeze of lemon at the end really does wake the whole pan up. I had it roasting while I was finishing transcripts from a couple of interviews, and I ended up running the audio through this transcription tool so I wasn't constantly pausing and rewinding. Recipes like this are going straight into the weeknight rotation.

    Made this on a Thursday exactly as written and the squeeze of lemon at the end really does wake the whole pan up. The ten minutes of chopping is honest — mine was in the oven before the kettle boiled. The only delay was a friend sending me to 数术排盘 to pick a good night for a dinner party, but the chicken thighs carried it either way.
