FRRRRRRRRRRRR! ay! id!
Have you ever woken from a nightmare about not wearing your mask?
I’m not going to say “the struggle is real” because a) I loathe that phrase, and b) I know you feel the same. But MAN, it is a legit thing.
I don’t have them often, but once in a while I’ll wake up with so much anxiety about being in a restaurant, or at a museum, or in the airport or wherEVER and no one’s in a mask. And I feel like my dreams are always the same, “We are we not wearing masks? How is this okay? Where are all the masks? Who has the masks? You’re sitting so close to me. Did you wash your hands? What is that film at your mouth corners? WHERE IS MY MASK.”
Do you have these? I find it mostly humorous that my anxiety dreams have morphed from not being able to dial a phone number or open a locker or find a classroom or tie a shoe – to not wearing a mask.
And I wonder if these mask anxiety dreams will stay with us, ya know? Much like the lockers and the classrooms and the shoe tying. Will these mask dreams haunt us forever? Are they here to stay?
Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Miranda was learning what it was really like to . . .
How often do you buy new pillows?
Not throw pillows, but bed pillows. Head pillows. Sleep pillows. Those. How often do you buy new ones?
Are you on a better-homes-style rotation, like once every six months, once a year, once every two years? Or do you wait until they resemble a limp, floppy, stained diaper loogie?
And if said limp, floppy, stained diaper loogies are down feathers, can you wash those? Can you wash down? CAN ONE WASH A FEATHER?
Asking for a me.
Okay, I started The One on Netflix. Remember when we read the book a while back? And I loved it SO MUCH, but…I’m meh on the show. IS IT EVEN THE SAME STORY? I know the premise is the same, but all the micro stories inside are different, am I right? Or do I need to keep going?
Like, the murderer, and the girl who goes across the world to discover her match is dying – those. Are they in it? If I need to just keep going, I will. But so far I’m like, snoozaaaaah.
That’s all I had to say about that.
You know how much I love 7 Little Words. I know you know this. It’s an everyday addiction that feeds my soul into unruly dorkdom.
Do you have any other quick puzzles like that to suggest? I want more! Quizzes or puzzles that take just a few minutes to complete, but are stimulating and fun. I know you have the goods.
Puzzle me!
Weekend plans?
We’re actually leaving town for the first time in a year and four months! Going to (finally) see some friends (in person!) and spend a weekend on a lake in a cabin with a hot tub, a big screen, a bit of March Madness, rosé spritzers, and not a Zoom session in sight. Before I get the hate mail, I explained all of this in Stories yesterday, but I’ll tell you here, too. It’s a tiny group. We’ve all had our first vaccine shot (nearing the second!) and we all tested negator for Covid. We’re all on the exact same page about what we do, what we don’t do, how safe we are, all of it. And I’m so.excited. to see humans, I can barely keep it together. I even made those no-bake cookies to mark the occasion because I need everything to feel like 1979.
From this week, in case ya missed it::: Creamy Tortellini Soup with Sausage and Kale! Slurpy and simple. Just how we like it. And these picnic-style Focaccia Sandwiches with Smoked Salmon and Camembert! Cute to look at and delicious to inhale. Get in both of those this weekend.
Um, have you seen this dangerous cheese? Would you try it?
Tell me what you’re cooking tonight.
