Friday Flotsam

Frrrrrrrrrrrrrappy Halloweeeeeen!

Now listen. Before we go any further here today, we need to address a serious topic. A sensitive issue. I don’t like to bring it up just as much as the next Joe. But. It needs to be said. Here and now.

The supreme Halloween candy is, and will always be a Snickers bar. And NOT those dumb teeny jokes of a bite. Not the full size either because we are not “big backs” – to use a word from the 11 year olds in my orbit. I’m talking about those perfect mid-sized Snickers bars that are like, two inches long? What are those?

Fun size!! Just looked it up.

The fun size Snickers bars. Perfect Halloween candy. Do not come at with your candy corn nonsense or your bloated orange peanut b.s. No thanks. Fun size Snickers bars forever.

(you’re still a good person though.)

(also what is your favorite?)

(no wrong answers.)

(besides the above.)

(bye.)

(just kidding.)

I do have a question for you. Do any of you have a word for when something is painfully cute and you can’t put it into words? Hence the word you made up? Want to hear mine?

No?

Oh.

I’m telling you anyway.

It’s shibby. Hahahahaha! Typing that out is making me laugh so hard. But with a slight j sound in it. Like shjibby. But you have to repeat it in a delicate high-pitched baby sound. Shibby shibby shibby. Ha-shibby. Shibby shibby.

STAY WITH ME.

I was telling me friend Carly about the word last weekend and she looked at me like I’d escaped an insane asylum. SHIBBY SHIBBY.

It can also be dibby dibby. But you have to muffle the d sound in a way that’s super fluffy and annoyingly cute.

Or just annoying. Either way you look at it.

DIBBY DIBBY.

Also, nibby nibby is so good. When you get a nibby of cheese from the fridge and walk around your kitchen with it. Snacking on it. Snacking of a nibby of good cheese. Nibby nibby.

Wait why are you looking at me like that?

Tell me your Halloween costume!

I’m not going to tell you mine. But I’ll give you a hint. It’s a woman. And she’s annoyed with everything. Everything is “booooooring.” She has an accent and a high pony tail. That’s all ya get.

Any guesses?

Weekend plans?!

We have the school Halloween parade today, the party to follow, getting ready after school, a pregame at my friend’s house, kids in various places, bubbles to be sipped, vintage spooky music to be listened to, chairs to be sat in around a campfire and a sleepover to end it. Will’s headed to Worlds of Fun tomorrow night for a bestie bday party. Nat has her first indoor soccer game of the season and I will be inhaling Nightwatching. Already so excited. And tired.

I did post a soup this week! Creamy Potato and Broccoli. Did you see it? Did you eat it? Here’s the video.

SHIBBY SHIBBY.

Can I suggest watching the 1968 version of “Sweet November”? Anthony Newley and Sandy Dennis. Far superior to the remake, I think.

I am the Wicked Witch of the West with a hint of Elphaba (because I wear glasses). My dad called me the Wicked Witch of the West when I was a kid, so he'll be thrilled to see me today!! :)

100% on the fun-size Snickers. Buuuuuut, as a tie, I also offer the fun-size Baby Ruth. Do I need to see myself out?

Yesterday was the Halloween day at the preschool where I work, and the kids dress up -staff too-and the kids get to trick or treat eat class. I was a black cat. My lead teacher was Piglet! It’s always fun to see what the kids dress up like. In our class we had a Joe Dirt and a Boo from Monsters Inc. Those two were the best to me! Happy Halloween!
