Homemade Ranch Dressing

There are a few things in life that people possess monstrous opinions about. Politics, religion, relationships….and ranch dressing.

Ranch dressing is tricky, I tell you. How much tang? How much kick? How thin or thick should it be? You’re liable to lose a limb if you find yourself in a situation of opposing ranch opinions. I’ve been there. It wasn’t pretty.

I was surprised to find out how easy a base recipe is for ranch dressing. With a little tweaking, I am thrilled to tell you I made the perfect ranch. Well, for me. A little thin, a little spicy, a little tangy.

What’s your favorite version? Wait don’t tell me. This could be a deal-breaker.

Wait, do. I’m ready.

What it took for 1 cup, or a small mason jar:

* 1/2 cup buttermilk

* 1/4th cup sour cream

* 1/8th cup low-fat mayo

* 1 garlic clove

* pinch of cayenne

* 2 fresh thyme sprigs

* 1 tsp dill weed

* pinch of coarse salt and freshly ground pepper

Whisk all of the above in a medium bowl and voila, happiness! I mean ranch.

    This is an alternative to the store brand, and I will try as fresher is usually better.

    I made it with homemade mayo and the flavor is really good, but it is thin. It should thicken in the fridge over night.

    Not a very good recipe, sooooo thin, kept adding more mayo, more mayo,. then decided to look up another recipe to see what I could improve on with this. Needs to be taken off the internet
