Fiiiiiiinally. I have an excuse!
You see, it all started on a hot, sticky day in August of 1976, when I was born.
Wait, that’s a different story.
I’m really, really late on getting you a Monthly Mixtape. But this is what happened! I couldn’t decide on a theme. Which is stupid because it’s December, and the obvious theme is “deck them halls and all that stuff”. (<–name that show)
But I was trying to steer clear of that for you. Because since late October, it’s all that’s been on the radio. All that’s been blasting in shopping malls and department stores, and that one back section of Target where wallets go to die.
But then, as the days ticked on and my theme ideas became more ludicrous and red wine fueled, I surrendered and went back to my gut feeling. Christmas songs.
BUT! b b b but.
Not your normal beat-me-over-the-head-with-a-bottle-of-eggnog Christmas songs. We want to punch those in their shiny red noses.
These are special. They’ll take you back. Waaaaay way back. To the ’40s, ’50s, and ’60s! Lots of Big Band, a bit of jazz. All vintage. All good mood. I can guarantee you will not regret putting this on while you prepare Christmas cookies and cocktails, while you finish your last-minute wrapping, while you watch the snow fall outside and not put on a bra until like, 4pm.
You’re going to love it.
It’s my new favorite Christmas playlist of all time.
And you only have two weeks left until Christmas, so you won’t get sick of it! See, I had this planned all along. My noggin is good for something after all.
I give you . . . the “Mistletoe and Carrot Nose” mix.
Actually, there are few songs in this mixtape from movies. Can you name the movies? QUIZ! You know how I love quizzes.
p.s. is it snowing where you are?!
