I’d never been in a Trader Joe’s. I’d never even seen one. I’ve heard people gush over it for years and years, and I’d stand there, yawning and scratching my arm pits, as I couldn’t relate to the majesty and glory of this so-called utopia of a grocery store.
It was about a year ago that the buzz hit Kansas City. I think it even started with a Facebook page called, “Bring Trader Joe’s to Kansas City!” Well, it worked. And not only did we get one, we got TWO Trader Joe’s locations in the metro area. Known for their inexpensive prices, good quality (and a lot of organic) food, and the infamous Two Buck Chuck wine, there’s really no reason not to love this place. Heck, I’ll admit, as soon as the word spread, I jumped on the giddy wagon and never got off.
This morning, 2 friends and I braved the crowds in the 14,000 square foot foodie sanctuary, as it’s only been open since Friday. We approached the automatic doors, tote bags in hand, cameras slung around our necks, mouths agape. “We’re here!” we simultaneously chirped.
Less than an hour later we’d filled our cart with all kinds of beautiful meats, vegetables, and snacks for our celebratory dinner party tonight. (Pics to come on that!)
Hey Trader Joe’s, will you marry me?
…I’m not kidding.
And, off we go!
