FRRRRRRRRRRRRRR i d a a a a a a a a a h!
I just had this INTENSE dream that I need to tell you about.
It was wild. And I just woke up from it. Like an hour ago. Depending on when you read this internet blog URL website post.
Listen to this: I was like, somewhere on the other side of the world, on some trip, in some carousel carriage thing, but it was shaped like a train, not a carousel, and it was on this hugely rocky terrain with all this water below it, and the winds got so bad that the carousel train started to weave back and forth, like roads do in vintage black and white footage, ya know, up and down, left and right, right and left . . .
*breathe*
And then the winds got SO bad that it dumped me straight up out of the carriage thing, over the rocks and into the water. And all these people were being dumped into the water as well, all around me, it was nuts. Splashing and screaming and crying everywhere. (total jack and rose moment) THEN, I panicked and found a couple of women to start swimming with, because we had to make it, you know. We had to survive. We started swimming through tunnels and underpasses (there were lights like in a subway station), and we kept swimming and swimming and swimming. And we ended up in New York City. We SWAM from the other side of the world to New York. Look, I don’t make up dream rules.
But when we pulled ourselves out of the water, soaked to the bone and clothes clinging to our limbs, we realized we’d lost everything. Phones, laptops, keys to the car and house, everything. No way to contact anyone, no way to go home, nothing. We were screwed.
And we stood on a busy city street and sobbed for a month.
And then I woke up and was SO RELIEVED IT WAS A DREAM. You know that feeling?? When you wake up, grab your phone to check the time, realize you’re holding your phone that you thought you’d lost, in a bed you thought you’d lost, in a home you thought you’d lost, with sleeping kids down the hall that you thought you’d lost, and all is well.
The end.
Okay, dreamies – what say you? What does it mean? What’s going on in my psyche that we need to unravel and dissect? You know I’m here for it.
But while we’re at it, can we please stop saying “Hey, you.”
I cannot stand it. I really can’t.
When someone sees you and they say, “Hey, you!” it makes me cringe.
Because it says either one of two things.
A) They have no idea what your name is. Which is totally fine. I forget names all the time. I will never judge a forgotten name. I’ll judge you if you like arena country or hot pink or rhinestones on back jean pockets, but never a forgotten name.
or B) They’re flirting. EW, no. Stop that right now. They might not think they’re flirting, but it absolutely and uncomfortably sounds flirty. You have to admit it. Say it out loud.
I feel great today! Why do you ask?
POLL:
I need to settle a debate with Aaron.
Dahlia pronunciation – can someone settle this for us? And I’m talking about the flower here.
Is it: Dah-lee-uh?
Or: Day-lee-uh?
Or: Dal (like pal)-ee-uh?
Listen, I have googled this. I have. And everyone says it differently. I was convinced I had it right until a seasoned gardener said it in a video and stopped me in my tracks. And now I’m stumped in this world and can’t properly move on until I know the correct pronunciation.
OR: is it like Caribbean where you say it any old way you want and cruise on in utter bliss?
Hey, you – what’s the answer?
You guys, Nat just walked out with tears streaming down her face from a bad dream just now.
In HER dream, she and Will were walking through some house looking for her wallet because she “had like, a thousand dollars in it for stuffies,” and this tall witch with bright white eyes blew them up! And apparently I watched it happen, didn’t stop it and laughed.
IS IT SOME WEIRD MOON CYCLE RIGHT NOW OR SOMETHING? What’s with all the nightmares? And it’s not even October!
Did you have a bad dream last night? What happened? Type it out, you’ll feel better.
Okay, dreamies – dissect that one.
Weekend plans?
WELL, it’s going to be 845 degrees all weekend, but we’re picking apples, gosh tootin’ dang it. Tomorrow’s our annual “Apple Day” with our best buds (you know, the one who didn’t know what a hummingbird was) – where we start with some early orchard picking, cider donuts, and a glance at the early pumpkins. And then we’ll head to our house for pizza, snacks, apple sangria (I’ll show you what I do tomorrow), and apple pie! It’s tradition, and we’re not messing with it. (remember the mister I bought this summer? Totally flipping that on.)
Other than that, an outdoor birthday party, another outdoor fall market at a fave restaurant, finishing a book, starting another, mowing the lawns, and sleep.
And figuring out to how to pronounce DAHLIA the right way.
From this week, in case you missed it!::: We’re on Spotify! YES YES YES. Also, a delicious Tomato Risotto with Roasted Corn. Stupid good. And lastly, an Apple Almond Custard that will have you seeing STARS.
(Gap jeans update! If I have time today I’ll go check them out. It might be next week. That’s all. This was riveting, I know.)
