Frrrrriiiiiiiiiiilanetine’s Fay! (<–sorry)

Ya know what’s weird? I forget about figure skating for three and a half years and then the moment I watch again it I remember it’s my favorite thing in the world. In the entire world! Like, since I was a child! And then after the Olympics I forget again. Ha!
Don’t you think it’s unbelievable though? The couple figure skating. Duo skating. What is it called? Hold on, let me look it up. Pair figure skating? I’m getting zilch. But it’s just amazing! How they sync up and flow together and have a fluidity that’s velvet smooth. I cannot take my eyes off of pair skating. Duo skating. Whatever the damn word is. I also get really worried and my hands sweat when I watch. All the triple and quadruple axels. My lord. And especially when the woman puts her sharp skate on the dude’s THIGH and balances on it? I’m sorry but there’s a major artery there I think. I actually looked it up and learned that if she stands straight up and down, the blade will not slice. But if she angles even a micro of a whatever, that blade will slice his leg right off from his entire body. How does one . . . practice that.
Also the downhill skiers make me sweaty too. Especially the Super G event where they DON’T KNOW THE ROUTE beforehand, besides GPS! (At least this is what Aaron tells me.) I cannot deal. The moment the skier catapults him or herself off the mountain I’m done. Sweat city. All those body-breaking twists and near-death turns get my heart rate up to the equivalent of a 4-mile run. Got my own exercise in just watching! Ha!
Never mind.
What’s your favorite Olympic sport to watch?

You know what made me lol the other day? I was listening to a pretty serious podcast involving a murder case about a dude found in the ocean. And the narrator, who has a professional-ish voice was in the middle of describing a fairly intense scene and he said, “pulled a uey” and I almost lost it. Pulled a uey! Isn’t that amazing? And then it made me realize that we definitely need more deep, serious voices saying phrases like “quinkydink” and “pulled a uey” and “made ya look.”
Also, we’re still selling Girl Scout cookies if your stash is low! Nat’s raising money for a last-hurrah trip with her 6th grade troop, so here’s that link if you have a craving.
Pulled a uey! hahahahahaha.

Long Valentine’s Day weekend plans?
We’re doing a little more work in the basement over the next few days. Need to find a bookshelf and add a bit of texture. Also need to shift focus to the back room which is now the bedroom and get that a bit organized. And we’re getting a lot of rain tomorrow (which I loooooove and will be a most cozy V-day vibe) so it’s the perfect time to get those indoor projects done. (And to have an excuse to ditch the progress, start a fire and get on the couch with my book.) I have a festive Galentine’s hang tonight, Aaron and Nat have a Girl Scouts FROG dance tonight, Will has some dude hangs in his weekend plans and a soccer game on Sunday. I’m tired.
Also, I posted the easiest chicken and rice soup yesterday, so I’d love for you to peep that! Here’s that how-to video.
Lastly, stay tuned for a very special Valentine’s Day Book Tasting episode today! The book is a classic from 1983. You will nooooot want to miss this. 🙂
Okay – duo figure skating? Is that it?
