I am embarrassingly late with this month’s mixtape, but – better late than never! Right?
Hello?
. . . anyone?
The even more embarrassing thing is that I started this playlist back in early-to-mid March. We had a nice sunny warm day and were sitting out back on the patio, reminiscing about going to shows, big or small, hearing the crowds roar, feeling the energy of humans either filling a concert hall or huddled over candlelit tables in an intimate setting, spilling wine all over my shoes. Ya know.
LIVE MUSIC. There’s just something wondrous about it. This last weekend Aaron and I went to French Market, sat at the bar (indoors!) and listened to a string trio and it was absolute splendor. I’d completely forgotten what it was like to sit near other people, feel the energy of a bustling cafe, linger over a third glass of Sancerre while chitchatting with the bartender. Being vaccinating is ruling my face, holy cow.
So! I made an ALL-LIVE-MUSIC mixtape for you. Yes, a lot of it is from the ’90s because that’s just the way it is. A bit of indie, a splash of hip hop, some folk, it’s all there. Some of these crowds are giant, and some you can’t even hear at all. But everything in this playlist is a live recording. This is the mixtape that will carry us over to the days when we can see more live music again. Plus it’s April so everything is coming to LIFE. Hahaha. Get it?
Never mind.
I give you, the “When Can We Go To a Concert Again?” Mix.
How’s your April going? No really, tell me.
