Monthly Mixtape: May the Mix Be With You in May

Happy May! I’m not really a Star Wars freak.

It’s so weird that it’s May, right? And I know I say this every month, but how is it May?!

MAY.

45 more days and half the y e a r is over. Sorry to give you that aneurysm of reality. What’s even weirder is that we just had tax time, you know? Also known as, a small business owner’s personal inferno. We start prepping for the DARK DAY in January, with all the collecting of 1099s, tracking down costs, receipts, invoices, blah blah blah. Listen, that starts up again in just over SEVEN MONTHS. 7 months! I’m hating this blog post already.

Okay, so this mixtape. (I’m changing the subject before I cry for a decade.) We’ve got another month with no real theme, but already this playlist is one of my favorites. It feels right for this time of year. It’s fun, it’s emotional, it’s up, it’s down, it’s stormy, it’s chill, it’s warm –  just like spring!

And it kicks off with one of my all-time favorite jams of ever. And yes I just called an Andrew Sisters song a jam. It’s who I am, guys. The song takes me back to childhood, with crystal clear visions of my mom beboppin’ around the house to it, folding laundry and making pork chops “for supper”. And if you’ve never watched the video, you MUST. It will give you life. The Andrew Sisters were basically how I learned to harmonize! Hey, they were the Wilson Phillips of the war era. THE OGs. You’re like, WE GET IT, MOVE ON.
