Frrrrrrrrudeedooodedodetoo!
We need new kid beds. Beds for the kids.
Like, bad. Badly. Bad and badly.
They’ve each slept in matchstick boxes (those cute little ikea beds) since they were around two years old (and they work!), and I’ve been avoiding the subject for about a year now, waiting until one of them starts complaining about legs sticking out, no room to move around, falling off in the middle of the night. (No one has fallen off in the middle of the night.)
And guess who was the first to complain. I think we both know.
Natalie. Of course it was. “Mom, this is starting to feel like a baby bed. Well, not a crib. Hahaha! Wouldn’t that be silly? If a nine year old was sleeping in a crib still? Oh my gosh. That would be so embarrassing.”
So I told them both we’d upgrade this year. Which sounds simple but man, I’m the epitome of ca-lu-layess when it comes to bed sizes and what works. Is a full size too big? Is there something smaller than a full, but bigger than a twin? The beds they have now aren’t even a twin size. They’re long and slender. These. A version of those, anyway. It was forever ago.
Also, their rooms aren’t that big, so we’ll definitely be rearranging (my lit-ral favorite thing to do as a kid!) their rooms to make the feng shui flow.
Help me with bed choices! Is there a brand out there that I need to know about? What do your nine year olds sleep in? Is it a straight up full? There should be something in-between teeny and full, but I wouldn’t know because I’m too distracted with my garden arch and baking ART BREAD, fgs. (<–did I just make that up?)
What cha got for me?
Okay, you guys.
Over Christmas my (cancer survivor!) bestie Laura showed me the Taylor Swift treadmill workout, that’s apparently all the RAGE on Tik Tok. So I did a little deep dive and found another one on Spotify, that’s purely Midnights songs, but basically on shuffle and fit for a run.
So I ran to the Midnights playlist the other morning. My takeaway? Meh. I could make a KILLER Swift running playlist. And it would fit both treadmill and outside runs. There has to be a warmup, a build, a bigger build, a good sweat, a back down a little, a slight build again, one more big sweat, then the cooldown. To me that’s how running works.
Now, to be fair – I have yet to run to the original playlist, which I plan to do first thing tomorrow morning. That way I can compare, take notes, and start putting together my own.
My question to you all is: do you want the playlist, once it’s done? Like theirs it will be ten songs total. But crafted, so you can’t put that ish on Shuffle or else your pancreas will be haunted for the rest of time.
Also don’t spend any time trying to figure out that last sentence. None of us will ever know.
Want it?
While I have you (do I still have you?), I need help with curtain tie backs! (I just felt some of you perk up.)
This has been on my to-do list for years. I kid you not, y-e-a-r-s. I “need” new curtain tie backs for our bedroom curtains. The ones behind our bed. I took some oooold ones we had (like, matte silver) and painted them brass forever and ever ago. And they work, but they just look pathetic. To me they look pathetic. I’ve wanted to swap them out for something with personality for SO long.
I want old-world French brass. (duh) I’m looking on Etsy and Amazon and Anthro (cute but those prices! no. get over yourself.), everywhere.
If you have tie backs that you’ve been obsessed with, I’d love to know.
Also we’re starting a band called Curtain Tie Backs.
Are there any beautiful, inspiring French Instagram accounts that you follow?! I do follow a few (like my American friend Noelani here in KC who lives a gorgeous French-inspired life. Matter of fact, we’re having coffee next week to discuss a VERY fun meet-and-greet for spring here in town! Stay tuned. It’s going to be so fun and so chic.)
Who else? I want to re-org my feed to be mostly French home beauty. Spilleth!
Also I have no idea how that wrinkly worm crawled into the photo above.
Weekend plans?
It’s definitely a nesting weekend! I’m so excited. I have a French Market lunch date with a bestie today, maybe an estate to hit this afternoon, Happy and You Know It to read, bedroom cascading plants (they ain’t lookin’ too good) to repot and hang back up in the windows. (it’s going to be a total thing, I can already tell.) I also want to melt down all the wax in my empty candle jars, melt more soy wax with them and refill all my jars and make new candles. I think that sounds fun! Why are you looking at me like that? I also have some paper clay that I’d like to press into a little dish with a pressed herb in it. Doesn’t that sound lovely? If I get around to it, I’ll show ya. (You’re like, “let’s not and say we did.”)
From this week! First of all, you all want more Favorite Things posts, which I’m ALL ABOUT. I’m on it. Here’s the Winter Edition! Also I did manage to post a recipe. Woo hoo! Green Bean and Fennel Salad. So much crunch, you will weep.
I put a lot on you today, I know it. But I also believe in you and know you have the strength to give me the goods. Grab that coffee and pop your knuckles. I’m here.
