New yeaaaaar! New like, everything. Year, decade, century, millennium, myrioi, megaannum, all of it. Don’t argue with me about this, just smile and look pretty.
To celebrate the new all of it, I’ve obviously got some sick beats for you. Actually, can Taylor Swift throw me in jail for using the words “sick beats”? I feel like she did something with those words a few years ago, but seeing as how it’s the new megannuum and all, she can rightly chill her face.
I like Taylor, don’t get me wrong. But if you’re going to “own” some words, why those? Why not something more inventive like Mango Toot Head.
. . . wait, did you leave already?
Back to the mix!
It’s a theme this month. You know how I like a good theme. And a gazebo. I like a good gazebo, but that’s neither here nor there.
This month’s mix has FOOD in every song title. How fun is that? And let me just tell you now, when I started crafting this playlist, I made it a goal to NOT REPEAT foods. And then I realized that was dumb because there’s a lot of horrible, awful music out there with food in the title. And I’m not doing that to you. Honey is everywhere. Sugar is everywhere. Mayonnaise is everywhere. Not really on that last part. But it is a Smashing Pumpkins song (there’s has one n in it, but we’re fine) from the early ’90s, so clearly we’re doing this.
For the most part, this mixtape is upbeat, cheerful, happy! There are little dips here and there because that’s my soul. Lots of older songs. Actually, all older songs. Nothing after 2000, except one song! What does this say about me?
THIS YEAR I’M DISCOVERING NEW MUSIC.
Maybe.
No promises.
I give you . . . The “Honey and Sugar and Mayonnaise” Mix.
You ate your black-eyed peas two days ago, right?!
