Friday Flotsam

Frrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrruhduflusuh!

We got RAIN!!!!

IT RAINED LAST NIGHT!!!! And I leapt (leaped?) from the sofa the moment it hit and threw open the back door and danced around the living room like some deranged weirdo (name that tune) and nearly cried. Stayed up PAST my granny bedtime to walk around the entire house and listen to it. And I think it rained for over an hour! Yes I’m 85, why do you ask.

You guys, we’ve not had rain since mid September. Droughts do harmful things to my inner soul fairies. (and the garden and the grass and the trees and our colors yada yada) But wow! Rain! At last!

Also, here are various photos of the sun peaking through fall trees. Seems to be what I gravitate toward. I’m definitely a Dark Autumn. Give me mood, give me drama, give me drizzle, give me rain.

I mentioned we got rain last night, right? Rain!

Okay, our movie log update, let’s recap and discuss. I’ll include here what’s been suggested and we can just keep going with it. Or not! I’m not bossy.

Home for the Holidays (with Robert Downey Jr.) I’m seeing that it was made in 1995 so I’m obviously in. Never seen it! Saving this one for the weekend after Thanksgiving. Or before. We good with that?

Dan in Real Life – I totally remember this movie but never saw it!

Awakenings (Robin Williams and Robert Di Nero) – never saw it! It looks brooding and horrifically sad. Obviously watching.

Mona Lisa Smile – I mentioned this last week but putting it here too in case it got lost in the shuffle. Give me anything Julia, please.

With Honors was also mentioned. Sort of Dead Poetsy? Adding.

Benny and Joon! You guys, I never saw it. I cannot believe I’m admitting this to the internet and beyond. On it.

Big Fish was also suggested. I remember this movie but again, fell through the cracks!

Once Around – okay, how do I not know this movie? HOLLY HUNTER? Sooo much yes. I am making this happen.

I’ll still watch Secret Life of Bees once I finish the book this weekend. And of course Autumn in New York for Winona and Richard. Duh.

So there we have it. We’re busy!

You guys, I’m hosting Thanksgiving this year. Do you know what this means? Do you even know what this means????

Time to thrift a gravy boat. This is major!

I want blue and white, vintage, something dainty and gorgeous. Let me know if you see one.

Weekend plans? I have an estate sale (gravy boat?!) on the agenda this morning, then a day at hoooome. Lil’ bit o’ laundry, lil’ bit o’ work, lil’ bit o’ reading, lil’ bit o’ putzing. We have Trunk or Treat this evening at school, so we’ll start here for a sip and a snack and head on up with a slew of friends. Tomorrow I plan on some fall yard work. Don’t ask me what that even is. A few things to trim and primp and move in. Mom Night by a fire pit to follow! Sunday is zilch and I plan on protecting that. Cooler temps, a sweatshirt, a Chiefs game, maybe this Frito Pie? Yep, that’s happening.

This week! We made a Creamy Beef Ravioli Soup and it’s just divine. Highly suggest you get in that. Here’s that video, too.

I told you we got rain last night, right? Rain!!

Oh Big Fish!!! That satisfied my dramatic teenage heart back then. And Helene bonham Carter love. And Evan mcgregor duh. Then listen to yellowcard’s homage to the movie! Great list. I may join you from afar. I haven’t seen half of these.

I WISH I could watch Benny and Joon again for the first time! Love that one! And let us know what you think of Awakenings, too. Di Niro is amazing in this! Thanks for the list. I have so much to catch up on!

Dan in Real LIfe. Seriously the BEST!! Can't say enough... Putting Mona Lisa Smile on my watch list for my last night of being alone in my bed (hubs has been traveling). The dog and I are going to snuggle in and watch it!

These are dreamy, amazing suggestions, but Awakenings has my heart. That movie affected me deeply as a child. I think about specific scenes to this day 🥰 you have to gab with me about it after!

I did the same thing when I saw the lightning and then rain. I hardly remembered what it's like to have rain. Finally!

Omg hope you have room for Finding Neverland on your list! So sorry -- I know I am a little late to the party on this but *you need this in your life*. Sweet, 1908 London, Johnny Depp Kate Winslet and Dustin Hoffman. Also, and I'm sure as a musician you have not missed Mr. Hollands Opus. Another all time fav that is pure magic! Ok I will stop now lol. Good luck with the gravy boat and enjoy your peaceful Sunday.
