We’re now entering the summer mixtape playlist songs-in-a-row-on-an-internet-platform era!
And this one is exactly that.
Every month I get embarrassingly excited about these mixtapes, and I hope you do, too. I always try to pick songs that make you feel something. And maybe it’s something long buried, like the way you feel when you hear Fiona Apple’s I Know. (very last song on this) Or maybe it’s just vibe music, something you’ve never heard before, like a washy shoegaze My Bloody Valentine song, or a jazzy mood-boosting something something. Nostalgia meets fresh on the ears. That’s my wheelhouse.
You guys, I also feel like I need to bring something to table about last month’s mix. I had ZERO CLUE that Style’s As It Was would end up being trending audio for reels. I want to violently rip it off the playlist, but I’m leaving it there because I genuinely liked it before I heard it 57,000 times a day on Instagram. Also, I’d heard a different version of the song (very ’80s, very Take on Me) by a favorite IG musician, so that’s why I included it. Sorry for making everyone cringe.
This month, however, will rip you up so good!
Without another word, I give you…The “Bleached Dogwoods and Beach Towels” Mix.
Also here’s another photo of the “bleached” dogwood in our front yard because I couldn’t decide. Ha!
Oh.
Happy May!
