You know how in every forensic show that you watch (the real ones! not like CSI), it shows a photo of the victim over and over and over throughout the show? It’s like, one specific photo that flashes up on the screen every few seconds. It might be the victim with the suspect, looking all young and cute in the ’80s on an orange floral sofa, arms around each other, laughing together with their giant feathered hair. Or it might be a posed school photo of the victim, or a glamor shot from a scam artist at the mall, or just a regular nonchalant snapshot of the victim in a tiny swimsuit leaning against an arm rail at the local pool.

But it’s ONE PHOTO that they show you over and over and over. And you wonder, how did they pick that one? How did they land on that choice? Who submitted the photo? Because it needs to be a decent photo, you guys.

I wish there was a way to submit your own photo now, JUST IN CASE. That way, you know what’s on that screen over and over and over. And on the submission form, maybe you can pick the editing selections, like – black and white is okay for this photo, but don’t use sepia BECAUSE IT MAKES MY NOSE LOOK BIG.

Look, I’m just thinking ahead, guys.

We have this ongoing joke at our house right now, for the past week or so, and I’m desperate to know if you think it’s as funny as we do.

You’re like, MY MONEY’S ON NO.

You know how in Tangled, the evil mom always goes, “Rapuuuunzel, let down your haiiiiiir!”

Dude, if you add a word in front of hair, it changes everything. For better or worse, you tell me.

RAPUNZEL, LET DOWN YOUR CHIIIIIN HAAAAAIIIIIIR.

RAPUNZEL, LET DOWN YOUR NOOOOOSE HAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIRRRRR.

And if you change the word hair all together, it’s even more amazing.

RAPUNZEEEEEEL, LET DOWN YOUR BUTT CHEEEEEEEEEEEK.

Your turn. It’s addicting, I swear.

Or maybe it’s because there are two 3 year olds living in my house. Along with Will and Nat.

RAPUNZEEEEEEEEL, LET DOWN YOUR TOE NAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIILLLL.

Um, what the hay is dry brushing?

I saw this article on Goop (which is never a good idea to begin with), on dry brushing, and I’m so confused. What IS IT? I’ve never heard of this before! I swear, once I think I’ve got a decent hold on skin and face and life care, they go and throw DRY BRUSHING AT ME? No.

No.

Do you dry brush? Because of course I might want to, ugh.

Looks like you spray some body oil on a body brush (can I just use my wooden vegetable brush in the kitchen sink?) and then brush upwards? Is that it?

But they say to dry brush for 3-5 minutes EVERY SINGLE DAY. That seems obnoxious to me. Aren’t there dead skin cells all over the floor after dry brushing? Do you have to sweep or vacuum or mop or light a torch afterward? I’m just kidding.

Do you?

RAPUNZEEEEEEEL, LET DOWN YOUR SKIN TAAAAAAAAAAAG.

I need a new serum!

Just ran out of my TJ’s antioxidant serum, so I’m looking for something to use right after a face cleanse, and before sunscreen. Something with a bunk ton of Vit C in it. What do you use?

Do you love it?

Are you obsessed?

Do you want to pat in on the head and call it Frank?

Give me the goods.

Weekend plans?

We’re ripping out our garden today! Not sure why I used an exclamation point there, but I’m kind of ready to see it go BUH BAH. However, in place of the bald, crispy zinnia stalks, embarrassingly-bolted broccoli and the last of the under-ripe yet rotting tomatoes, we’re going to slap in some cooler weather ish, like some dark leafy green lettuces. Our marigolds are still thriving, so we’ll leave those in place for pops of orange here and there. And some sweet potatoes that I planted back in April! I need to check on those. What else can go in a fall garden? I’m totally blanking.

RAPUUUUNZEL, LET DOWN YOUR EAR LOOOOOOOOOOOOBE.

For a serum, I'm loving Ole Henriksen's Truth Serum. I'm on my second bottle!

I use the Geneva Naturals Vitamin C Serum (you can get it on Amazon for $23) and love it! It's very thin and dries quickly after you put it on, but it really makes a difference!

I really like Bare Minerals Skin Rev-er Upper. I'm not sure how much Vitamin C it has in, but I really notice when I don't use it.

This is the second time I've discovered awesome products thanks to Bev's comments section. Great recommendation. I don't want to spend a fortune, and...well, science! Thanks.

I have all kinds of comments today! So I am 41 BUT my mom and I were on a rampage to find the perfect top for me to wear for my senior picture in high school because i was convinced if something were to ever happen to me, that would be the picture plastered all over the news. Like we legitimately spent hours shopping for the perfect color and style sweater in case I was involved in some tragic crime. It seemed normal at the time. I do dry brush but not for a whole three minutes. I have the brush hanging next to my shower and I brush while the water is warming up. I don't use oil and it feels really good and helps tighten things up. For serum, I was using the Vitamin C serum from The Body Shop but I got several samples of the Algenist GENIUS Liquid Collagen serum from Sephora and it really is the only product I have ever had make a clear noticeable difference in my skin. I was getting the smile lines near my mouth and I swear a couple weeks of this serum shrunk them and my pores. It is pricey for the bottle but I will for sure be purchasing it when the VIB sale happens!

Alina skin care vitamin C serum works wonders!! Don't worry about dry brushing... overrated. Watch out with the vitamin C serum though... don't put near your eyes or under your nose. No sensitive places!

in my home of three year olds we like to change up old mcdonald. Old mcdonald had a python with a hiss hiss here and a hiss hiss there. The kids and the adults laugh hysterically and try to one up each other on the most ridiculous animal that he might have.

I don't dry brush, but I've always been curious and yet it seems like such a waste of time. However, I am obsessed with dermaplaning and dermarolling at home. OBSESSED! I have 3 dermarollers in different sizes. And I always have 2 packs of scalpels on hand so I can dermaplane in peace whenever the mood strikes me! I use a hylauronic acid serum I got on Amazon in addition to my maracuja oil.

I follow an LA blogger on Instagram who swears by dry brushing. At first she only did it every once in awhile and didn't really think anything of it, but started doing it regularly again and swears by it now. I don't think she uses any oils, but I'll have to pay attention the next time she talks about it. I want to try it though.

I was dry brushed once (a weird spa prize that I won) they said it stimulates blood flow which speed up cell turnover. The way I see it is all you have to lose is time. I hate spending time on regimens so it's not for me. Anyway, I'm keeping an eye out for everyone's serum recommendations, been feeling the need to switch things up.

I just started using Ole Henriksens truth serum...too soon to say if I love it or not but it hasn't broken me out. I tried the drunk elephant c firma serum and it clogged my pores big time and I broke out horribly. I was kinda excited because I didn't want to love it being it's so expensive. So far I am liking the truth serum though!

Dry brushing is more for your lymph system. It clears the lymph, hence brushing upwards towards your lymph nodes. It's supossed to help reduce cellulite, most people do it before they get in the shower. I don't do it, because it seems a little "extra" and I've got just 1 2.5 year old. Also I've been hearing boat loads about Tula skin care, it's a probiotic line (there are multiple discount codes on Instagram as well for a discount and free shipping) Also Honest just released a new anti aging/clearing line which has a retin-a serum that seems pretty legit. A good amount of actual retinol without a bunch of junk fillers.

You know, I have always thought about the photo thing in relation to funerals. Like OK, this might sound morbid and I totally don't mean for it to be, like at all, but I realised that there are a bunch of photos of me, already taken, sitting on my hard drive, that somebody is going to put in the photo slide show at my funeral one day. Like, some of my funeral slide show photos ALREADY EXIST. Ideally there will be thousands more photos for that person to choose from, and it will be in like 60 years time. But yeah. That weirds me out, just a lil.

Chantecaille Vital Essence serum is incredible. It is expensive....but you only need a small pump for your whole face and neck.

I dry brush a few times a week in the shower, before turning the water on to shower. Yes, it makes skin fall off so you don't want to do it anywhere else, except the tub or shower. It has many health benefits but what I love is how soft it leaves my skin. I don't even need to use body lotion on the days I dry brush and I usually have very dry skin that sucks up the lotion. You don't use any oil or anything on the brush and you need to buy a special brush that is specifically for dry brushing. You will be amazed at how soft your skin is after you shower. It helps reduce cellulite too. I was told you always brush toward your heart, so up for most of your body and then down at the neck and upper back and shoulders (skin on your breasts is too sensitive, so don't brush there) Hope that helps! Was not getting your blog posts in my emails but today got a whole bunch of them! YAY! I've missed them!
