Monthly Mixtape: The "Mix About Fire" Mix

I can’t even think about it. How has this year flown by??? Let’s not even discuss it. When did it all slip away??? Don’t even mention it. Why does it go by so fast??? I don’t want to even talk about it.

BUT.

We can talk about a new mixtape! I actually started working on this mix a few months ago (I’m a nerd), but only recently decided it was more than perfect for November. Not only are the trees boasting a performance that sends your eyeballs to trip-out land, it would be loco if I didn’t show a little city pride for our Royals and their fresh World Series championship.

You guys, I don’t even like sports, and I got into this. I stayed up late, got nervous and excited and obsessed with P-Rudd sightings (duh). But honestly, the whole thing was pretty thrilling. I’m not exaggerating when I say that the moment they won, you could literally hear the city roaring. We stepped out on our back porch at nearly midnight and listened to the pops and booms of fireworks, the surreal surround sound of people screaming and cheering from miles away, cars honking, dogs barking (which I’m positive had nothing to do with the fireworks, and only the win. strictly the win.) It was tear jerking. Even for me! Gross.

So the mix: the theme is fire. Every song has to do with those trance-forming flames. Most songs even have the word fire in their title, but not all of them. And I will warn you, there’s a sprinkling of Top 40 in here, because you can’t not! (secretly, I’ve been trying to figure out how to slip in my love for Sarah McLachlan for like, ever. don’t hate. appreciate.)

I give you, the “Mix About Fire” mix.

And of course you can always click (I almost typed lick) the free Spotify link below! Lick the link below. Lick it. Enjoy!

I know! Right? Where did the year go? I feel like the next two months are already blur ... we should jump into January. :) Love this playlist, and I secretly LOVE Sarah McLachlan as well!

"Set fire to the rain"??????? No Adele love? I'm loving these mixes. So many songs I've forgotten, and it's a great mix of genres for my girls to listen to. Thanks and keep me coming!

Ahhhh! Sorry sorry. I've actually only listened to like, three Adele songs ever. I just can't do it. She has an amazing VOICE, but I'm not really into her songwriting. (I take it back - the only song I like of hers is from the James Bond soundtrack. HA!)

I keep accidentally dating things for August at work. And the only way I knew the Royals even won was because people in my city (in Kansas) were setting off fireworks too, which was a tad alarming and I had no idea what was going on for a second. Anyway, love this playlist and I hope you have a lovely day.

I went through a hard-core Sarah McLachlan phase in my college years. I love her voice. Fumbling Towards Ecstasy was my fave....and I still know all the words. =)

I can't wait to listen to this. I've got my mom visiting us from out of town tomorrow so I will be blasting this playlist today while cleaning the house like a madwoman.

Love your playlist, Bev. Alicia Keys' "Girl on fire" was my wedding song. I still tremble when I hear it. Wish you all lots of love and may fire burns in your hearts forever :)
