Cast-Iron Breakfast Fruit Cobbler {Tablespoon Tuesdays}

First of all, did you watch How I Met Your Mother last night? Excuse me, what was that ending all ABOUT?

Don’t worry, I ern’t gerna spoil anything. I’m just still so dern perplexed over the whole stupid thing! I’ve looked everywhere online for answers, closure, peace, and so far I’ve found two things: jack and WHOAAAA a bird just seriously flew right into my back door.

Not even kidding. Flew in, flapped around for what felt like the most terrifying lifetime ever, and flew right back out, just like a lone ranger on some secret mission. I wonder if it was a sign. But what would it telling me!? A new life to come? New adventures ahead? Flap my own wings and fly like the baby eagles and soar into the wonders of my soul?

Wait, what was I saying?

Guess what I just bought tickets to just right now like 5 minutes ago. Just guess. Okay fine I’ll tell you. Prairie Home Companion!

You know, the weekend radio show on NPR with Garrison Keillor and Lake Wobegon and Guy Noir and The Liiiiiiiives of the Cowboys?! Aaron and I have listened every single Sunday for a hundred billion 450 years because we’re secretly 85 years old, and we need to see it LIVE before Garrison retires. Because I feel like he’s about to retire. I just know it. I know it because there’s a little section on top of my head that recently produced coarse hair. And that ain’t right.

You’re bored.

So, I made a cast-iron breakfast fruit cobbler thingy that you probably most definitely need to peep. You can see it here!

Or here! ORRRR here!

Just kidding, those are all the same link.

Tricked!

You hate me.

(p.s. this is the last day to enter to win Heather’s beautiful cookbook Generous Table!)

Gorgeous cake. Love the skillet action. I grew up with Garrison K playing. My parents were HUGE fans. They used to see him live whenever he went on tour!

I am obsessed with Prairie Home Companion. My hubs and I listen to that show and Car Talk! NPR 4 Life. And this skillet. For reals.

LOVE Prairie Home Companion! I've seen This American Life and Wait Wait Don't Tell Me live but PHC is the one I'm now dying to see. So jealous. Oh yeah... And I want this in my mouth now!

There's something so romantic about cooking with cast iron. I just love it. Is that weird? This looks scrumdiddlyumptious! :)

I LOVE Prairie Home Companion! (Although, is it a sacrilege to confess that Guy Noir sometimes bores me??? Forget I said it... I already feel dirty about it.) Cobbler for breakfast!!! Okay!

HIMYM = SO frustrating!!! My favorite show ever (I have seasons 1-7 on DVD - loove it), but I was not happy with that last night. Anyway, this cobbler would be welcomed with open arms any morning of the week!

Ooh this looks so tasty! I love pouring the batter over the melted butter... my favorite cobbler recipe works the same way, though I then put the fruit over the batter and let it bake up around the fruit. Might have to try it this way for breakfast soon...

Anything that can be called both dessert and breakfast is exactly what I want in my life all day, err day.

I;m soooooooo behind in How I met your mother!!! Catching up marathon style this weekend... I'm thinking I should just make this cobbler and eat it with a spoon all day while doing so.

That skillet is gorgeous! I want in. Like, literally...I want to sit inside of it with that cobbler.

I'm so mad at How I met Your Mother. The ending was terrible. I'm also mad at The Office. I don't like Jim giving up his career for Pam. I guess it's sweet? But I don't know. Where I come from, you don't ask your husband for such a sacrifice. She's literally asking him to hate his job for the rest of his life. Bah. Ok, I'm glad we could have this chat. xo

This is so gorgeous! I am loving the fruit toppings, so vivid and fresh :)
