Sriracha Chicken Pozole

I have a few questions for you today. This is some serious stuff too. So sit down.

You’re actually probably already sitting down, I realize, unless you’re in line at the DMV reading this on your phone, which in that case, ew. But if you’re in line at the post office with a bunch of Christmas gifts to ship off, well then look at you go. *fist bump* *and then the little hand explosion part*

1) On a scale from 1 to 10, how much does Christmas stress you out? The shopping, the traveling, the art of wrapping gifts so that it doesn’t look like a snaggle-toothed dragon was in charge. Not that I have anxiety issues or anything! Oh good grief no! A . . . friend wants to know.

2) She also wants to know if there’s a good anxiety medicine she should know about. Or a certain brand of really strong wine.

3) If I’m going to start watching Parenthood, should I start from the very beginning? A very good place to start? When you read you begin with ABC. When you sing you begin with DO RE MI. (name that movie)

4) On a scale from 1 to 10, how impressed are you with toe wrestling? Another friend wants to know.

5) And lastly, if you don’t care about any of the above and just want to put on some floaties and wade around in this bowl of sriracha chicken pozole, I get it. I’ll see you there. But let’s not skinny dip because that could get uncomfortable reaaaaaal quick ya know what I’m saying?! I’ll stop talking. Here’s the recipe.

6) But really, about that wine . . .

7) And Parenthood . . .

8) And the movie . . .

9) And the wrestling thing . . .

10) I don’t have anything else to say. I just feel way off kilter ending on 9.

I'm at a 4 for stress-- and we've already given out Christmas gifts to our family-- the baking and holiday parties with friends are stressing me!

I HAD ANXIETY ISSUES! I don't know if you were seriously asking, but I was pretty anxious all the time so when I can pass on what I've learned, I do! I used to take medicine which kiiinda worked. Then I went to a Naturopathic Doctor, changed my diet some and took whole food supplements and I don't have anxiety anymore unless it's like normal stress! Holllerrrrrrr.

Watch Parenthood from the beginning. Bring tissues.

I haven't watched Parenthood so I can't give you advice there. Maybe I should start watching it though. The closer I get to the holidays the more my stress level gets. Wish we could bypass the month of December and go right into January. Just forget December even exists. Or just move away for a month to a remote place and come back in January all refreshed and alive. Wouldn't that be fun?

Parenthood is only the greatest show on television. Start at the beginning, and forgo the tissues for a towel or towel-like sheet. I can hardly ever get through an episode without a major breakdown. But if you're eating this delicious looking Sriracha chicken, I'm sure you can just blame your tears on the spice.

Parenthood is best watched with a glass of wine; it helps the tears flow more freely.

Ok, first of all I LOVE the Sound of Music reference. Especially in the same paragraph as talking about Parenthood. If you're going to watch, start where Maria does, at the beginning baby! Secondly, stress? What stress? You mean it isn't normal to end up crying like a 2YO and rocking in the corner, coiled in the fetal position? ;) Thirdly, this soup sounds awesome. I'm def going to be trying it out very soon!

Everyone loovvves parenthood! Goodness, I must really be missing out. I don't have any answers, but the soup looks yum!

The first three notes just happen to be....DO RE MI. DO RE ME FA SO LA TI.... Sound of Music is the best movie ever!!

My stress level is at a 2 but mainly because I haven't done anything at all! Which means by stress level will be at a 10 in the next few weeks. But I'm going to try to relax and enjoy the holidays... after all, aren't they suppose to be fun? I guess I have to add Parenthood to by netflix queue! Everyone keeps talking about it! Please tell me you've watched Friday Night Lights! xo

Cool story: I took the Sound of Music tour in Salzburg, Austria and danced around the courtyard where they sing Do Re Mi, and I took a picture in front of the gazebo and omg it was glorious. Nearly as glorious as this soup. That sriracha-onion-chile-garlic base is just too much, it looks amazing!

My parents took the same tour!! I wasn't with them though. I'm still not quite over it.

For the wine: http://www.gnarlyhead.com/our-wines/old-vine-zinfandel/ This stuff was pretty good if I remember correctly, forgive me it's been awhile since I've had the pleasure of meeting a nice sexy wine in one of my glasses as I've recently squirted a new life into this world. Oh and I love your humor, you remind me of my best friend in that aspect (and yes I've shown her this website, we both love you).

What a great use for Sriracha! As for Christmas stress, I try to lessen it by doing most of my holiday shopping online. But I still try to get in the nice parts of the holiday season, such as Christmas tree lightings, holiday concerts, etc.
